4th summary
According to the author, he mentioned that there was the “tour” (Fuchs, 1984, p21) that people can leave babies anonymously in Paris in 1811. Fuchs explained that tours were “wooden cylindrical concave boxes, approximately 55cm in diameter which were in a window like aperture in the wall of the hospice and served as cradle-turntables” (Fuchs, 1984, p21- 22) The cradle-turntables, Fuchs mentioned, were faced half the street and half inside of the hospice so people put their babies and turned the table half so that their babies went in the hospice. Then, “a bell sounded a bell to alert the nun on the in side that a baby had been deposited” as Fuchs mentioned (Fuchs, 1984, p22). Surprisingly, Fuchs indicated that the hospice “almost always knew the mother’s name, occupation, and address”(Fuchs, 1984, p31) thorough the Maison d’ Accouchement which is the place to give a birth, however; they kept secret of the mother’s information. The tour wasn’t open until 1827 because of the controversy between that tour was “making abandonment easier in order to prevent abortion and infanticide and making in more difficult in order to prevent immoral behavior.”(Fuchs, 1984, p22) It was because the tour was “the physical instrument” (Fuchs, 1984, p22) of anonymity. From 1811, Fuchs said that state law tried to be stipulated to protect abandoned children, but it didn’t work well. Fuchs stated that abandoned children were “potentially deviant”(Fuchs, 1984, p33) to bring other people’s state up.

Summary
According to Rachel Fuchs in her book “Abandoned children”, published in New York 1984, Fuchs explains situation of abandoned children in France. She argued about abandoned children by using several aspects; social problems, economic changes, religion, foundations, and wet nurses.
She mentioned France had too many abandoned children in 17 to 19 Centuries and had some religious foundations and hospices that took over the role of taking care of abandoned children from the government at that time. However, Fuchs argued that they weren’t enough, “Those admitted were chosen by chance.”(Fuchs, 1984, p4) and there were abandoned babies “who were dying on the streets.” (Fuchs, 1984, p4) or who were sold as unwanted children (Fuchs, 1984, p5) “to beggar or jugglers” (Fuchs, 1984, p5). French people tried to save these abandoned children, but not all of them. They discriminated illegitimate children “children corn out of wedlock were wanted neither mother nor society” (Fuchs, 1984, p7) as Fuchs mentioned. Fuchs said that these foundation or hospices had other problems about “shortage of wet nurses” (Fuchs, 1984, p15) who took care of children and also about the bad cycle of abandonment; the abandoned baby girls became prostitute and abandoned their children as their mother did for them.

The second summary
The section I read this time was about how hard to live after the transplant operation was and some organizations in Canada to help patients who experienced organ donation or patients who will have it.
According to the book, the author mentioned that he paid attention to many things after the transplant operation, for example everyday exercise, eating habit, and biopsy, examination of tissue, that the patients who had a transplant operation must take frequently. He said it is rare to have chance to get a new hart and not to have any problem and recover from hart disease completely. To do so, he explained that how much he researched to look for good hospitals and doctors until he thought the doctor is well experienced and trustable and also many organizations that encourage organ donation.
“Doing nothing and hoping and waiting that it will go away is playing a dangerous game with your life.”(Hoferichter, 2000, P 46) He also reported what kind of organization and supporting groups they have in Canada that try to increase the number of donors, give patients and their families information about transplant, advice about drag usage, and even financial aid. He argued that “the greatest fear for all transplant patients have is feat of the unknown”(Hofeerichter,2000,P 63).

The Waiting Game
According to the book "The Waiting Game" written by Norbert R.Hoferichter in Toronto,2000, he was a patient who got a special chance to take an operation to transplant his heart.He had heart desease that came genetically from his parents. Hoferichter said that before he took the operation, he was suffered from heart desease, and waiting for "right heart donor" (Hoferichter,200,p21)for him. when he was spending very hard time to wait the operation, he thought "how ironic whole thing was"(Hoferichter,200,p21) acording to Norbert. Because of his suffering from heart disease for 20 years, he desired to have the operation, and at the same time he felt selfish for that he wanted "someone else to give up his or her life for me to carry on" (Hoferichter,2000,p21)as he mentioned. After his pituful 20 years, he reported finally he got the chance to transplant a new heart, and then he recovered after 128 days of painful life.He argued how importand and helpful organ donation was for many patients who was suffering from incurable desease. He thougt "If everyone was a dorner"(Hoferichter,2000,p19) showed his real feeling, strong opinion and hope about donation.Through the experience, he knew how tough it was to stand continual severe pain of which the only way to get rid was organ donation, moreover he realized the difficulty to get the chance as Hoferichter mentioned.

Level6*The first Blog.
Hi,everyone.This is Rie.This blog is my old blog that I made when I was level4. I wrote about my experience in Canada. I hope you guys enjoy my old blog as well as my new one, but I'm sure there are many mistakes!!Forgive me, please! and.... I hava much time now, because I already have mine,so I'll tell you somothing about me. I' m here to learn English to enter York University and my goal is to be an English teacher in Japan.I've been here for almost 7 months.I miss my country, family, friends and my BF so much. Learning about marriage
Hi, everybody. How was this weekend? Did you enjoy?
I enjoyed this weekend. Especially today, I had good time with my host father.
We went to shopping mall today, because I really wanted to buy Japanese foodstuff.
There were many kinds of Asian food. As today was Chinese New Year’s Day, there were many Chinese people. I could find many Chinese foodstuff for New Year meals,
for example, big crabs, big shrimps, and several kinds of seafood. My host father and I were interested in the seafood and touched them without asking. However, clerks of the shop didn’t care about us. We enjoyed watching these things and touching them. haha
After that, I bought many Japanese foodstuff, some fruits and skim milk. What I was surprised was the price. I couldn’t believe it. It was 50$.I forgot that Japanese food was foreign food here, and I bought many stuff without seeing the price. If I were in Japan, I could buy same things with half price. After I finished shopping, we went to coffee shop and talked for two hours. Topic was marriage. It was interesting for me. I knew the truth that I’ve not noticed. My host parents didn’t marry. It may not be raised as the matter here, but it was amazing thing for me. They have 5 children and they have lived together for 30 years. Why didn’t they get married? It was strange! How have they kept relationships? According to my host father, he and host mother are good friends still now. They don’t tide each other. My host mother went to Africa for two months as volunteer. Why could she do that? The reason is easy. They are friends. While she stayed there, host father did all house work by himself. He also does house work everyday as my host mother does. They share the cost of living. Both are working and pay the half cost, so they have same positions in their house. My host parents are not same as Japanese couples. In Japan, many women who get married don’t work. It is evidence that they get married with a good husband. It is still believed by many people; however, it is a little old opinion. They don’t need to work. It is easy to live for women, but they don’t have power in their house. They always do house work for their husband. When they need money, they ask their husband. I don’t like the situation. I can work. I want to use money freely without asking. That’s why I agree with my host parents finally, and my thought changed. I noticed that we can make family without marriage. I know it is sometimes hard to keep. However, we can do similar thing like my host parents. What is the most important thing for doing like my host parents is making promise with partners before marriage. So…..I should find a guy who agrees with my opinion. It may be difficult.

Ｈａｐｐｙ ｗｅｅｋｅｎｄ
Hi, everyone. How was your weekend? In my case, I enjoyed it. On Friday, I went to birthday party of a Korean friend. We enjoyed drinking and billiards. I just watched the game, because I couldn’t play billiards. What the most interesting thing was the accident. hahaha… It was happened in washroom. When I went to washroom with Paola, there were already flooded. Oh my god!! To make matters worse, I used the broken one! I didn’t realize it was broken. So……..You can imagine. After I pulled the lever, something happened, and I had to get out from the bathroom quickly! I yelled with Paola and ran out. We cared about our things not to fall down on the floor. It was a bad accident, but it made us fun. Sometimes, accidents make us fun. If there are no accidents in our life, we may feel boring everyday.
On Saturday, I went to hockey game. I’ve never seen the game, so I was excited. Many players crashed the rink sharply, and they readied to fight each other. I’ve never seen such dangerous game. The game passed so fast. I couldn’t follow the movement. I was amazed that many yueli students felt boring because the players didn’t fight. There were many kids, and they sometime called “Fighting! Fighting! Fighting! ”. They were cute but what they said wasn’t cute. After the game, I went to Mexican restaurant with many yueli students. It was the picture. I ate tacos with Paola. I followed her and I learned how to eat the food. It was very nice! I really liked it. Unfortunately, according to Paola, it was not real Mexican food. We can’t eat real food from other countries here except Korean and Chinese. You know, there are no real Japanese restaurants here because almost all owners are Korean. I miss Japanese food. I ate ramen yesterday. Ramen is very popular food in Japan, so I expected it would be nice! However, the taste was horrible! It was totally different from Japanese ramen. After I ate it, I felt bad.
Oh!!I wanna tell you about our discovery! When Paola and I were waiting for our bus, we found a nice phrase accidentally. When I said “cold” in Spanish and in Japanese by connecting, it means “ very cold!” in Spanish. Wow~ amazing! When I said it, Paola was excited. She misunderstood I got Spanish meaning naturally, but it’s not true.jajaja
We liked the phrase.
☆ My conversation session
I joined in a conversation session in this week with two Korean girls. They are my friends, so I could enjoy the session. The conversation partner was Henry. We talked about our fashion. However he is man, he knew many shops and brands. He is a clerk of cloth shop. The shop name was Banana…..I forgot. It’s OK. I don’t care about bland if I like the cloth even if it don’t have brand name, I buy it .He said he has a lot of cloths like girls and his mother doesn’t like this point.
